2 ★: I've used the app for 2+ years (paid coaching version). It is a good concept, but there are a few key areas where it is lacking. The feedback you give the coach does not clearly change the trajectory of the current or future workouts. For example, I am doing the "dumbbell gain" journey, and I keep telling it certain workouts are too easy, yet the next session with the same move it is the same (or even gets easier in some - this might be broken!). All I have room for. I will try a new app!
4 ★: I like this app overall, it serves it's purpose. However, one of it's biggest drawbacks is that I can't move workouts around for the week, once you set your days you can't change them without starting your "journey" over. For days you don't have workouts scheduled you have to choose from the list of challenges, or build your own workout. I really wish I could choose weight workouts without having to create my own workout.
1 ★: Downloaded, and was kinda excited to use. Then I started setting up my account, and all the sudden, it wanted me to pay. Kinda puzzled me, considering the name is Freeletics. Anyways, aside from that, the payment options are also kinda funky, as it says $2-3 a week, but then you gotta pay the whole thing upfront? I haven't seen the product before, never heard of it, and I'm not about to drop $80 on something that doesn't even show me how it works before wanting paid.
4 ★: I stuck with this for over a year, so there's a lot to praise. The app is simple, slick, and the coach feature takes all the planning burden off you, which actually saves a lot of time. I'm cancelling my subscription, though, because I don't like its progressions. I, for example, really struggle with pull ups, and the app flips between asking for strict pull ups (which I cannot do at all) and 10s dead hangs (which are too easy). I'm switching to an app with more intermediate exercises.
2 ★: Good app with one fatally annoying feature: not allowing the user to skip (or shorten) the rests between sets. I find them to often be unusually long. What winds up happening is I will go through the workout without actually clicking through it on the app, and then click through it later to "complete" it. It just doubles the amount of time spent on the app, which is super inconvenient. If this option isn't offered, I won't be renewing.
2 ★: Not a great app. Overly elaborate with very little focus on hypertrophy. If you are looking to get the body of a little boy with giant legs then this is the app for you. Also the format is excruciating as the workouts take far too long with no attempt to shorten the workouts with supersets. If you accidentally stop a workout, you cannot pick up where you left off and are forced to go through long useless warm ups. Maybe good for cyclists. But if you want to build muscle, look elsewhere.
5 ★: This app is really the best such app I've seen. I've looked at so many of them and none have made me want to buy the full version. Yesterday I bit the bullet for this one. The recipes in the nutrition side are very good and give a good "easy to advance" range. The workouts are flexible and allow you to easily adjust based on daily needs. Can't get to the gym for some reason? No worries just tell it that and it will modify to a bodyweight only only without so there's really no reason to miss!
1 ★: I was really disappointed with this app. You cannot look further into it unless you purchase it. The nutrition does not allow for much customization. The excersise portion was not what i needed. You have to warm up for 7 minutes then cool down for 7 minutes and there is no way around it, with a small window to excersise in, thay didnt leave me much time. There werent many excersises, it just had a few that you had to do about 5 times. Waste of money. Ended up finding a free one instead.
4 ★: Overall, I really like the app. I enjoyed the program and the workouts did seem personalized based on feedback. The app pushed me then and I made noticeable improvements. But the app could definitely use some upgrades. You can only see one workout in advance, which makes it hard to plan your week. Journeys also have themed phases, ending with a hell week, but I never know what phase I am in or when I start the next one. This inability to plan is why I will not be continuing my subscription.
5 ★: For those that complain about it not being free, it is free if you dont want a coach. Also, quality is never free. A fact all people need to learn. I have not yet subscribed but I do intend to. It's very organized and easy to understand for beginners. There are also videos for every workout so you can make sure you're doing the exercise properly. Bad form is wasted exercise. Great app.
